LOGO DESIGN KENYA
PrintX creates a distinctive new identity for MyPamoja
PrintX has completed another international logo design project – this time for MyPamoja, a new online auction and marketplace platform created for the African market, with Kenya playing a central role in the brand’s direction. MyPamoja is being developed as more than a traditional auction website. The platform is intended to bring buyers, sellers, shops and local businesses together in one accessible online marketplace. Users will be able to list products at fixed prices, offer multiple quantities and, where appropriate, sell items through online auctions. The new logo needed to communicate this broad vision while remaining simple, recognisable and suitable for a modern digital platform.
The meaning behind the MyPamoja name
The word “pamoja” means “together” in Swahili. It immediately captures the central idea behind the service: creating a place where people, businesses, products and opportunities can come together.
This sense of community became the foundation of the visual identity. Instead of designing a conventional auction logo based on a gavel, price tag or shopping trolley, PrintX developed a more distinctive symbol representing cooperation, connection and shared activity.
This approach ensures that MyPamoja is not visually restricted to auctions alone. The identity can grow alongside the platform as it expands into ecommerce, classified listings, local services and other marketplace features.
A symbol built around community
The MyPamoja emblem consists of a series of geometric forms arranged around a shared central point. The individual elements can be interpreted in several complementary ways: as people gathered together, leaves, products displayed within a marketplace or separate communities connected through one platform.
The circular arrangement creates a strong feeling of unity and movement. Every element has its own position and character, but all of them contribute to a single balanced symbol. This reflects the intended structure of MyPamoja, where independent buyers, sellers and businesses participate within the same digital ecosystem.
A golden circle sits at the centre of the design. It acts as the visual meeting point of the composition and represents the platform itself—the place where users, products and commercial opportunities connect.
The smaller circles surrounding the main symbol introduce a human element. They suggest individual members of the marketplace and reinforce the idea that MyPamoja is intended to be a people-centred platform rather than simply a product catalogue.
Colours inspired by the African landscape
The colour palette combines warm gold, burnt orange, natural olive green and deep charcoal. These colours were selected to create a strong African character without relying on flags, maps or obvious cultural stereotypes.
Gold brings energy, optimism and commercial opportunity to the identity. It also highlights the word “my”, making the brand feel more personal and user-focused.
The green tones represent growth, trust and the natural landscape. Burnt orange introduces warmth and creativity, while charcoal provides contrast, stability and a professional digital appearance.
Together, the colours give the logo an earthy, welcoming personality while maintaining enough visual strength to work within a competitive ecommerce environment.
Designed for a digital marketplace
Marketplace logos must perform effectively in many different formats. The complete MyPamoja identity was therefore designed around a clear symbol and highly legible typography.
The emblem can operate independently as:
- a website icon;
- a mobile application icon;
- a social media avatar;
- a seller badge;
- a favicon;
- a payment screen identifier;
- a promotional graphic;
- a printed marketing element.
Its balanced structure also allows the symbol to remain recognisable when reduced to a small size. This is particularly important for a platform expected to appear on mobile devices, seller profiles, product pages and transactional notifications.
The lowercase wordmark gives the brand a friendly and accessible voice. It avoids the rigid appearance often associated with financial or auction companies and makes the platform feel suitable for individual sellers as well as established businesses.
Creating trust through consistent branding
Trust is one of the most important elements of any online marketplace. Buyers need confidence that they are using the correct platform, while sellers must feel that the service presents their products professionally.
A consistent visual identity helps establish that confidence. The MyPamoja logo provides a recognisable mark that can be used across the website, mobile interface, emails, advertisements, seller materials and social channels.
As the marketplace develops, this consistency will help users identify official MyPamoja communications and distinguish the platform from individual sellers operating within it.
An African identity with international potential
Although the logo was created with Kenya and the wider African market in mind, it does not depend on a literal national symbol. This gives MyPamoja room to expand into additional countries without requiring a complete rebrand.
The use of a Swahili name, community-based imagery and an African-inspired colour palette gives the platform a clear regional identity. At the same time, the clean geometry and straightforward typography place it comfortably alongside contemporary international technology and ecommerce brands.
The result is a flexible identity for a marketplace built around connection: people meeting people, sellers finding buyers and local businesses gaining access to a wider digital audience.
Logo design for Kenya and international businesses
PrintX creates bespoke logos and complete visual identities for startups, ecommerce platforms, established companies and international projects. Every logo is developed around the purpose, audience and future direction of the business rather than assembled from a generic template.
The MyPamoja project demonstrates how a logo can express regional character and community values while remaining practical for a modern online platform.
